Meet the Artist

Hi, my name is Diane Lalomia and I was born to create! I didn't get started in watercolor until about 2022. When the world went crazy with lock downs I spent my time in my art studio studying new techniques with various watercolor teachers. Not only did I learn but I also painted my cares away and I found what made my heart sing.

My Home Studio

Over 20 years ago we moved to Michigan and had a farm with sheep and goats. I enjoy textile arts and wrote an article for Spin Off Magazine, Choosing Fiber - Where to Start, for spinners. We had Finn sheep and some mixed breed goats (Alpine and Boar) along with a flock of chickens, a few cats and of course a dog.

Now that I've retired in northern Michigan I learned to pass the long winters painting watercolors in my home art studio. I couldn't be happier and feel more blessed to be doing something I love, surrounded by my animals, creating art and doing something that brings me so much peace and joy.

My vision

The Lone Zebra has been my platform and now showcases my art. I hope to educate others about the health conditions known as "The Trifecta" that includes Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Post Orthopedic Tachycardia (POTS) and affect many people, including myself. I hope to provide hope, knowledge and understanding on what it's like to live as a "zebra".

Why the zebra?

The story behind why I refer to myself as "The Lone Zebra".
